First Raspberry Pi Camera Test
Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W online, camera connected and first test image captured: the starting point for sky snapshots and future visual classification.
The first visual signal
The observatory started with environmental telemetry, but a real observation system eventually needs eyes. The first Raspberry Pi Camera test marks the beginning of the visual layer of the project.
The goal is simple: capture periodic images of the sky and use them together with sensor data to understand real local conditions.
What was achieved
The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W was brought online, the camera module was connected and the first test image was captured successfully.
This is not yet a complete all-sky camera system, but it proves the hardware chain: Raspberry Pi, camera, operating system, command-line capture and local file output.
Why it matters
Sensor data can say that light levels are low or that humidity is high. A camera adds context: clouds, haze, sky brightness, visibility and changes over time.
The next step is to turn single images into a historical sequence.
