Observatory Journal
The First Public Observatory Dashboard
The first version of the public dashboard: a mobile-oriented page to visualize local weather, light, astronomy data and observation context.
The first public version
The first public dashboard was designed as a mobile-oriented view of local observation conditions.
It brought together weather, light and astronomy information in a single place.
Design direction
The dashboard was intentionally visual and compact, closer to a personal observatory screen than to a traditional web application.
The first priority was making it useful from a phone.
Where it leads
Publishing the dashboard created a natural next step: documenting the architecture, adding diagnostics and turning the project into a public portfolio piece.
That is the origin of the About page and this journal.
